A one day trip to Batam..

Just came back from a day trip to Indonesia island, Batam..

I'm been doing the organizing, coming out with a Free & Easy trip planning of places to visit and booking thru email to reserve 4 Adults 2 way ferry tickets to Batam the last few days..
We Planned to celebrate Ah Jie's birthday over at Batam.. But in the end, He got sick the very last minute which means he's stuck to his bed at home with his gf and left only Danah and me going for this trip.. Haiz.. poor thing..
So, I had to change the itinerary to a simple one as Ah Jie and his gf didn't join us..

How to go Batam :

There are many providers to bring you to Batam from Singapore.. Some of them are located in Harbourfront center.. They are the 'Penguin', 'Wavemaster' and 'BatamFast'.. They operate ferry services to and from Batam Center and Singapore at regular intervals..

Things to note when going to Batam :

1. Batam is 1 hour behind SG time..
2. Beside the ferry ticket, there is a fuel surcharge of S$6 (both ways) and port fee of S$7 on return..
3. These old Rupiahs notes cannot be use anymore.. Cos they changed their bank..

Batam, here we go..

We met at 9am at Habourfront MRT station in the morning and went to collect our booked tickets for the 10.20am ferry with the 'Penguin'.. Their price was cheaper.. S$32 compare to 'BatamFast' which is S$34..
After we got our ferry tickets, we went to change our money for Rupiahs and bought some foods for breakfast..

If you had given all your details during booking the ferry tickets, they will even completed your Disembarkation / Embarkation Card for you when you received your tickets.. Nice~

We were too relax busy chit chatting, eating our breakfast and Our names were announced when we missed the boarding time.. We dashed to our boarding gate.. LOL..
Our ride..

It's weekday.. The ferry, not surprisingly, was not full..

Out to the sea..

After 1 hour journey, we reached Batam !! Welcome to Batam Center..

As we were walking out of the Batam Center Building trying to get over to another shopping mall, the taxi drivers out there stopped us and telling us lies by saying this mall still not opened yet, wanted us to ride their taxi to another places.. But we rejected and went back in which I noticed there is actually a bridge linking the Batam Center at the 2nd Floor to the Hyper Mart/Mega Mall where we were planning to go over first.. Lucky we didn't believed and went on..
View of the sea on the bridge..

While we were walking around the Hyper Mart/Mega Mall, we were looking for a nostalgia bear, the 'A&W' Bear we used to see in many locations in Singapore.. They can be found in many places in Batam..

Our 1st meal at 'A&W'.. The Original Root Beer Float..

My favourite Curly Fries..

Walking around Mega Mall..

Sitting outside the mall..

The cigarettes there is very cheap.. We trying to get Lucky with the Strike.. LOL..

It's toasted !!

The main travel medium in Batam is by taxi and they are not running on meters.. It's so easy to get a taxi everywhere.. They can be spotted every main entrance of the shopping mall.. The locals are friendly people.. Our stop is to 'Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall'.. The fare costs is Rp50000..

View of the places..

Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall..

It is one of the biggest shopping mall and offers many food and clothing shops..

Outside view of the mall..

Danah is scare of crossing the road there.. LOL..

Inside the mall..

We have KFC.. They have BFC..

'Best Fried Chicken'.. LOL..

Have a snack and drinks at 'Godiva Coffee' cafe..

Watermelon juice @ Rp17000 and Machiato @ Rp18000..

Mie Goreng @ Rp21000..

Took Snap..

Bought movie tickets at Rp15000 (around S$2.50)..

Drive Angry

Yes, their movie there is very cheap.. But the quality feels like watching Pirated DvD lor..
Anyway.. The funny truth is We didn't watched the Whole movie at all.. We only watched about 15 to 20 mins at the ending part of the movie.. I don't even know what the story is about and the show ended.. T^T
We were Actually Late for the showtime for 1 hour due to the time difference from Singapore.. LOL..

Actually, we were suppose and wanted to eat seafood.. But due to the rush for the ferry, we ended up eating at 'Cinna Toast' cafe in Batam Center.. How sad..
Milo Peng @ Rp20000..

Mie Goreng @ Rp25000..

My another mission going to Batam.. To get my hands on Chitato !! Oh, also Chewing Gum and Indo Mee which we can’t find in Singapore.. LOL..

Bought this Tee for Darling..

Well, besides cheap and cute printing t-shirt and Chitato, you can buy all the imitation fake branded bags! Coach, LV, Gucci with a lot of designs which you are not going to find at the retail shop..

Bought the 'J.CO' donuts which is originated from Indonesia..

So long didn't eat Donuts liao.. It's Rp6000 each..

LOL..

Our return ticket.. We booked it straight in the morning when we reached Batam Center before we started to enjoy ourself..

We took the 7.30pm ferry back to Singapore..

It was Exhausting !! But fun !!
Next time we will plan to go DC mall, Lucky Plaza, Kepri mall and play Go-Kart then..

All in all, a great day out for using less than S$50 per person, meals included.. Bargain !!
